Dayhaven Social Adult Day Program

Dayhaven is a Social Adult Day Program for individuals with short and long-term physical and/or cognitive impairments.  Serving the community since 1987, the Program provides an interactive, safe, and secure place for individuals to make new friends, share a meal, exercise their brain, learn new activities, and connect with others.  Dayhaven allows the caregiver peace of mind while they are at work or doing daily activities and know their loved one is being taken care of in a safe, secure environment. 

What Services are Offered at Dayhaven?

With a team of professional, compassionate, friendly, and trained staff, Dayhaven offers the following:

  • Assessment/Care Planning
  • Security system protecting your loved one

  • Therapeutic garden

  • Nutritious light breakfast, hot lunch, and afternoon snack

  • Monitoring and Supervision

  • Social and Recreational Activities (individual and group)

    • Therapeutic Music & Sing-A-Longs

    • Pet Therapy

    • Arts & Crafts

    • Chair Exercise

    • Bingo, Board Games, Cards, Trivia, Word Searches, Puzzles

  • Assistance with Toileting, Wheelchair Transfers, Mobility

A light breakfast is served daily until 10:00 am followed by morning activities, which may include chair yoga/chair exercises, memory games, bingo, coloring, music, or visiting with friends.  Lunch is served at noon and after lunch, planned activities continue until loved ones are ready to head home. Additional activities include a weekly baking club, music therapy, art therapy, and massage therapy on a rotating monthly basis.

Who is Eligible to Participate in the Program?

The Program assists any adult that is functionally impaired and will benefit from participation in the program.  Participants are referred to Dayhaven through loved ones, self-referral, discharge planners, word of mouth, and health insurance companies.  Participants are required to have a medical evaluation completed by their physician, prior to admission, confirming they are fit and able to participate in the Dayhaven program. 

What is the Cost for the Program?

Many private insurance companies and managed long term care providers cover the cost of Adult Social Day Services.  Call your insurance provider for plan coverage details.  Private pay is also an option at the rate of $55.00 for a full day of care (4 or more hours) and $30.00 for a half day (up to 4 hours).  The full-day session includes a light breakfast, hot nutritious lunch, and an afternoon snack. 

Where is Dayhaven and When is It Open?

Dayhaven is located at 107 Nott Terrace in Schenectady and is open Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. 

Are Transportation Services Available?

Catholic Charities offers Transportation Services to and from Dayhaven at a rate of $8.25 each way.  Some limitations apply.  Please call for further information.
