How are Agency Program & Services Affected by Coronavirus?
At Catholic Charities Senior & Caregiver Support Services, we strive to provide older adults and caretakers with the tools they need to live fulfilled and independent lives. In the wake of the new coronavirus, older adults in our communities are increasingly vulnerable and many need our services now more than ever.
We remain committed to serving our seniors, yet recognize that the current coronavirus outbreak means we cannot continue to provide our services in the same way we have been. As a result, we have decided to temporarily suspend services at our Friendship Cafes. It is not a decision made lightly, but we simply cannot keep these programs open while ensure the safety of our guests.
Similarly, our Meals on Wheels delivery model has been adapted to follow current CDC guidelines and maintain an appropriate social distance. Our offices are closed, but telephone messages are being checked daily so we can continue to be in touch with those who reach out and provide support and direction as possible.
It is our goal is to keep people safe and healthy while maintaining the level of care they need. We continue to work with state and local health officials in order to make the best decisions for not only the many people we serve, but for our staff and volunteers as well.
We will be sharing updates regarding program changes and communicating with all those affected, including when it is necessary to make alternative accommodations.
Stay safe and God Bless,
Marlene
